Showing Her Colors!!

DISCLAIMER: For those of you reading this who are of a differing "political persuasion" than us conservative Republicans, don't worry, no views or opinions will be expressed herein that will in any way create controversy. In addition, I also know many cute Democrats as well!!!:)



I come from a somewhat spirited and politically opinionated family. When we all get together for Sunday dinners it is quite a crowd. We have staunch Democrats, Independent voices, Republicans and Ultra conservative Right wingers all in the same room. We often have lively political discussions. Because of such, Abby has been exposed to lots of differing views on politics. She is politically savvy for a nine-year-old and has definite opinions on current topics such as live birth abortion, the War on Terror, Nationalized Health Care, Taxes, Bailouts and all the other "cans of worms" that we as a society have created. She is somewhat swayed by her parents political views, as any child usually is at this age. Although she hears Sean Hannity frequently and was a Mitt Romney and then a John McCain supporter, I also made her listen to President Obama's nomination acceptance speech and was happy her school had the students listen to the swearing in and some of the inauguration address last month. I want her to be able to form her own opinions and to do such I feel she needs to hear both sides of the story. However, she is definately a conservative Republican at this point. She loves politics and enjoys discussing them and learning about political science. She is much more aware of current events than I was when I was a child. She will make a great little debater some day!!

At dinner last Sunday we were playing a fun little game we call the name game. Everyone writes down the name of a famous person on a piece of paper and hands it to the moderator. The moderator reads all the names and then one person is designated to start. They try to match a famous name to a person in the room. In the round we were playing someone had put the name "George W. Bush" in the papers. One of my Democrat Uncles was chosen to guess first and he immediately said, "Abby, your George W. Bush, you little Republican!" We all got a good laugh at that!! She has definately made her true colors known!! Keep it up Abby and eventually you may just get that Supreme Court Justice post and change the world!!
