Last week was eventful...very eventful! We had a pre-surgery appointment with Abby's cardiologist to discuss scheduling her pulmonary valve replacement surgery. This appointment brought both good and bad news. We knew going in that Abby would be having surgery this summer. We discussed it with her cardio last time. We were dismayed to find out that June is most likely booked up already. We have to push it back to July or forward to May. We'll discuss all that with cardiothoracic surgery when they call to schedule. Abby needs an 8 week recovery period without much strenuous activity or exercise so...pushing it off to July makes it so that when school starts the end of August...she won't have reached her 8 week mark yet. So, we will most likely have her surgery in May. Abby did get to try out a new device that monitors her heart rate for 24 hours. She thought it was pretty cool!

So, May here we come. Her surgery is not as invasive or intensive as her last surgery....I feel good about it...at peace. We are asking for prayers....prayers that her surgical team and caregivers will be guided, prayers that Abby can feel peace and confidence going into the surgery, prayers that as parents we can know how best to handle her fears and apprehensions, prayers for Abby's brothers, especially Nathan who is extremely fearful and anxious over the surgery. We would be appreciative for your prayers and faith as this time approaches.
