Abby--Our Ray of Sunshine

This post is about Abby. Abby is our little ray of sunshine. She generally has a smile on her face and brings a bit of sunshine and happiness to others. If you can believe, she is turning 8 in January. She is SO excited for her baptism. She has begun planning it and I am so proud of not only her desire to be baptized but her desire to understand why we get baptized and her desire to fulfill those covenants she will be making.

She has had a rough time the past few months unfortunately. She had a surgery on her ears and about 4 or 5 days after the surgery we noticed she was holding her head cocked to one side and seemed to have little to no movement in her neck. We took her to her pediatrician and he sent us to neurosurgery at Primary Children's. Yes, one more specialty doctor to add the long list of doctors she already visits at Primary Childrens. They took a CT scan and found that her 2nd vertebrae in her neck was twisted 30%. This is called a subluxation and can happen sometimes after surgery or infection in the head and neck area. She has been placed in a neck collar for 4 weeks to see if that clears it up. We are hoping it does the trick. If this doesn't work, we will have to put her in traction. She has been a trooper however. She hated her bandages after the surgery and was so excited to get them off. Then, she had to wear this collar. At first she was embarrassed to wear it but now, she wears it and never complains.

Abby is still playing the piano. She is in Weber State's preparatory piano program and is enjoying it. She loves to sing and has a beautiful little singing voice. She also loves to read!!! She read like I can't believe. She can easily polish off a Magic Treehouse Book in about an hour. She just finished Charlotte's Web and we are having a WONDERFUL time reading Harry Potter together. I know, I know.....I swore I would never read Harry Potter. However, it is so much fun to read aloud with all the different characters and English accents and all. We are almost through the 1st book and at the end of the day after we have put Gavin to bed it is one of my most favorites 30 minutes with Abby and Nathan curled up by me listening to the story!!!
