For those of you who don't have much experience with military life, I thought I would share a little. Justin is in the Air National Guard, so our experience would closely resemble a "part time" experience so to speak. Initially he went to a 7 week boot camp in San Antonio, Texas with pretty much no contact with us for those 7 weeks. He then had to go to Tech Training in Missouri for about 3 months. Now, he goes to guard one weekend a month and now and then has these shorter periods, around 5-14 days usually, where he goes on training missions and such. Here is some photos of the last mission...
Justin is in the Disaster Planning or Emergency Preparedness shop. They are in charge of chemical suits, chemical warfare and clean up, planning and implementing plans in different scenarios, such as Nuclear bombs or chemical attacks....those kind of things. They are attached to the larger Civil Engineering unit. The last mission, the Civil Engineers were there to "rebuild" roads and highways and air strips in a mock disaster. However, nothing that affected Justin's group was being practiced. So, they set up tents and did some other work for three hours one of the 4 days. Justin is in the dark brown T-Shirt above.
Here is the Emergency Planning shop. So what they did they do the other three and half days while in California on a training mission????

and, an Angels baseball game!! What a rough training mission. However, I must admit that some of the previous training missions have been rugged and demanding so I guess for the guys to play a little now and then is okay. The flights to and from the missions include first class flying....Air Force style that is. 
Yes, everyone was apparently very, very sick. The little bench seats get somewhat uncomfortable and the turbulence was quite strong. They fly in the huge transport Air Force plains and fit the airmen in wherever they can.
Do you think the FAA would approve of these flying conditions??? Probably not but are they really going to argue with the US Air Force?

I just want to let you know that we are proud of our sevice men and women, whatever capacity they serve. May Justin be one of the few that never leave American soil. For those who have left. Our prayers are with you. May you be safe. Because of you, we can enjoy the America we know and love!
It's neat that you were able to get these pictures. It looks like he was able to have a lot of fun this trip....minus the plane ride. :p
great pictures! life sounds like its busy for you both. i've been wondering about having bay #4, but i think you may have talked me out of it. too many memories. although, like you say, the end result is truly amazing! your kiddos are darling!
