The other day Justin and I were looking for something fun to do with the boys. Abby is still in school but Nathan's preschool is out as it runs on the same schedule as the college. Well, we had heard about Ft. Buenaventura here in Ogden but had never been. We decided to check it out and see what it was. Once we got there we were happily surprised. It is a state park which commemorates a trading post built by Miles Goodyear on the California Trail. It was a post for trading for mountain men, Indians and pioneers and western travelers. They have a small trading post, some teepees, wide open meadows and a man made pond. We had a great time canoeing on the pond and touring the site.
The rocking motion of the canoe took a little getting used to, especially with two young boys leaning over the edges so they could look at the water.
Nathan really liked trying his hand at paddling with the oars!!!
Gavin thought he would give it a try as well!! Overall the day was a success and so fun we took Aunt Lisa and Uncle Travis back when they came to visit for the weekend!!! Well worth the time and the kids have asked to go back numerous times. Who knew we had a real out west adventure right in the middle of inner city Ogden...
